Archaeology Crew Members – Wyoming

Western Archaeological Services is seeking qualified archaeological crew members for our Rock Springs and Casper, Wyoming offices.  We anticipate hiring crew members beginning in late spring to late fall (weather permitting) for work on survey, testing, and excavation projects located in Wyoming.  Minimum requirements include undergraduate course work in archaeology, an archaeology field school, ability to perform strenuous fieldwork, and adequate writing and mapping skills.

The positions are part-time and seasonal.  Work will be conducted out of the Rock Springs and Casper offices.  Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

Crew Chiefs – Rock Springs and Casper, Wyoming

Western Archaeological Services is seeking qualified full-time crew chiefs for our main Rock Springs office and satellite Casper, Wyoming office. Western Archaeological Services is a growing company has been providing cultural resource management expertise for over 30 years in Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah.  We provides a full range of services to assist industry in their compliance with historic preservation mandates.  We have the largest number of permitted, experienced crew chiefs of any organization in the state.  In addition, Western Archaeological Services’ work is grounded in academic and scholarly research intended for dissemination to professional archaeologists, academic institutions, and the general public.

The majority of the work will be based out of our Rock Springs and Casper offices.  Minimal out-of-town travel can be expected.  Western Archaeological Services is unique in that the candidate can set up a permanent home base in either town and work daily from that office.  Company transportation to and from project areas is provided.

The ideal candidate must have a BA/BS degree in anthropology, archaeology, or other closely related field; although a MA/MS is preferred, have a minimum of three years archaeological experience, and meet the Wyoming state standards for listing on permits.  Candidates must have good technical writing skills and should be able to demonstrate that they have either written or assisted in the preparation of archaeological reports and site forms.  Special consideration will be given to individuals with experience using GIS in archaeological contexts.

The positions are permanent, full-time and include health and retirement benefits.  We are seeking self-motivated people who will integrate into a cultural resource team, and over time advance into positions of increasing responsibility.  Wages are commensurate with experience and education.   Overtime wages will be frequently incurred, especially during the field season.  The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, although special circumstances may apply for various projects.  Western Archaeological Services provides a generous benefit program including medical and life insurance, paid holidays, paid vacations and sick leave, and a retirement plan.  The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to either Rock Springs or Casper, Wyoming.
